1. What is MirrorBuddy
MirrorBuddy is an AI-powered educational platform designed to support students with learning differences (SLD). The platform offers 32 virtual maestri (educational characters with unique personalities and knowledge), flashcards with spaced repetition algorithm (FSRS), adaptive quizzes, mind maps and gamification tools.
MirrorBuddy is developed by the Fightthestroke Foundation with the goal of making learning inclusive and accessible to all. The platform complies with European data protection regulations (GDPR), artificial intelligence regulations (EU AI Act 2024/1689) and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA).
2. Who Can Use MirrorBuddy
- MirrorBuddy is open to all students. Children under 14 must use the platform under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian, as required by GDPR Art. 8 and Italian regulations
- To create an account (Base or Pro tier) you must provide a valid email address and name. The Trial tier is accessible without registration
- Parents can monitor their children's activity via the Parent Dashboard, where they can view progress, conversations and AI recommendations
- Each user is responsible for the security of their own account. Do not share your login credentials with others
3. Warnings and Service Limitations
By using MirrorBuddy, you understand and accept the following limitations:
Not a School Replacement
MirrorBuddy is a study support tool and does NOT replace school, teachers, tutors or healthcare professionals. It does not provide medical or psychological diagnoses. For learning difficulties, always consult a qualified professional.
Artificial Intelligence
MirrorBuddy uses artificial intelligence (Azure OpenAI) to personalize teaching. AI may generate inaccurate or incomplete responses. AI responses do not constitute professional advice (medical, legal, psychological). All AI-generated content is labelled as such.
Beta Features
Some MirrorBuddy features may be under development (beta). Beta features are identified as such and may have limitations, bugs or changes without notice. Your feedback on beta features is valuable and helps us improve.
4. Limitations
Understanding these limitations will help you use MirrorBuddy most effectively:
Educational Content
Educational content provided by MirrorBuddy maestri is AI-generated with integrated knowledge bases. While designed for educational accuracy, we do not guarantee the completeness or absolute correctness of every piece of information. Always verify important information with authoritative sources.
Evolving Service
MirrorBuddy features, maestri and content may change over time. We are committed to continuously improving the platform, but some features may be added, modified or removed without notice.
Platform in Active Development
MirrorBuddy is currently in active development. Some educational content and features may be incomplete or in testing phase. We are working to continuously expand the educational offering.
5. Intellectual Property
All MirrorBuddy content is protected by copyright and intellectual property rights:
- The source code, design, logos, icons and original content of MirrorBuddy are the property of the Fightthestroke Foundation
- Maestro characters (names, personalities, knowledge bases) are creative works protected by copyright
- AI-generated content during conversations is provided under a personal, non-commercial use licence
- Your personal data and content (uploaded documents, created flashcards) remain your property
It is not permitted to copy, reproduce, distribute or create derivative works from MirrorBuddy content without written authorization from the Fightthestroke Foundation.
6. Code of Conduct
To ensure a safe and respectful learning environment for all, we ask you to follow these rules of conduct:
- Mutual Respect - Respect other users and virtual maestri. MirrorBuddy is designed for inclusive learning and does not tolerate discrimination of any kind.
- No Abuse - Do not use MirrorBuddy to generate offensive, discriminatory, violent or illegal content. Do not attempt to circumvent the maestri's safety filters.
- Report Problems - If you encounter inappropriate content, bugs or security issues, report them immediately to roberdan@fightthestroke.org. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping MirrorBuddy safe.
- Do Not Share Sensitive Data - Do not share sensitive personal information (address, phone number, bank details) in conversations with maestri. AI is not designed to handle such data.
7. Guidelines for Parents
If your child uses MirrorBuddy, we recommend following these guidelines:
- Parental Responsibility - As a parent, you are responsible for your minor child's use of MirrorBuddy. Make sure they understand the rules of conduct and service limitations.
- Active Supervision - Children under 14 must use MirrorBuddy under your supervision. You can disable AI personalization in privacy settings if you deem it appropriate.
- Monitor Progress - Regularly check your child's progress via the Parent Dashboard. Review conversations with maestri and AI recommendations.
- Contact Us with Concerns - If you have concerns about AI usage or your child's privacy, contact us at roberdan@fightthestroke.org. We respond within 5 business days.
8. Privacy in Brief

Your privacy is important to us. Here is a summary of how we protect your data:
- We collect only the data necessary to provide you with the educational service (email, name, conversations, progress)
- We never sell your data to third parties and do not use advertising tracking cookies
- Your data is protected by GDPR and you can exercise your rights (access, rectification, erasure) at any time
- AI models are not trained on your personal data. Microsoft does not use your data for model training
9. Limitation of Liability
MirrorBuddy is provided 'as is' and 'as available'. To the extent permitted by applicable law:
- The Fightthestroke Foundation does not guarantee that MirrorBuddy will be free of errors, interruptions or defects. We are committed to keeping the service available but cannot guarantee 100% uptime
- We are not liable for direct, indirect or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use MirrorBuddy, including but not limited to data loss or failure to learn
- Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you have paid for the service in the last 12 months (or zero for free tier users)
This limitation does not apply where Italian or European law does not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability, including damages arising from wilful misconduct or gross negligence.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms to reflect service updates, regulatory changes or user feedback. In the event of significant changes:
- We will publish the updated terms on this page with the new update date
- We will notify you via an in-app banner and, for substantial changes, by email
- Continued use of MirrorBuddy after notification constitutes acceptance of the new terms. If you do not accept the changes, you can stop using the service and delete your account
